I'm Getting Married

James gave me a promise ring back in October and we decided that we would be engaged. We hadn't really thought about a date or planned anything at that time. I wanted to wait until he was done with school. As the months passed, I decided that I didn't want to wait and I wanted to have it in June of 2008. I thought around the time of our one year anniversary would be perfect (only one date to remember). We started dating on June 24. That is a Tuesday in 2008. No thanks. Who wants to get married on a Tuesday? Not me! I was really indecisive about the date. First I wanted it on Saturday night, then Sunday afternoon, then Friday night, back to Saturday, Thursday night......I could not make up my mind. Finally, I did a lot of thinking about our budget and the prices of each day and time of day. Sunday mornings were fairly inexpensive and so were Thursday nights. If I were to do it on a Thursday night, I would have to use their catering as opposed to doing my own and the minimum price per person is 24 bucks. That's a lot of money on food. We decided on June 15, 2008 which is a Sunday and is also Father's Day. I hope that's not a problem. We will have like a brunch type thing. We're going to get a cheese fountain, a chocolate fountain and a punch fountain and have snacks and stuff. We decided to have it at a place called The Woods on Ninth. At least 4 of our family members have been married there. It's a beautiful place. They have an upstairs and downstairs. The downstairs has a big dance floor, a bar, lots of table and then there are doors to the patio and the outside area where they have a few ponds and waterfalls and a bridge. They have this rod iron gazebo that's really pretty.

I'm so excited but I'm going out of my mind trying to think of everything that I want. I don't really want to have bridesmaids. Amber is going to be my maid of honor and Miranda will be a bridesmaid. I would really prefer that we just have a maid of honor and a best man but James wants his other friend to be a groomsman so I asked Miranda if she wanted to be in it. I'm having black, red and white for my colors. I'm going to have a white dress with red around the trim and bust area. I want Amber to wear red and Miranda to wear black. James is going to have an all black tux, black vest, black shirt, a red tie and red handkerchief thing. And I want his two guys to have the same thing but with white shirts.

We planned out honeymoon also. We got a hotel/flight package deal to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. We're staying at an all inclusive hotel....unlimited eating and drinking....SWEET!!! We're gonna get wasted. I can't wait to lounge out at the beach and get drunk and get a tan. Alright!

Flowers, invitations, cakes, ministers, shoes, colors, guests, registry.....BLAH!!!! I'm kind of annoyed with this whole wedding planning thing. James has been a little helpful...it's not really his thing apparently. The reception center has resources for all sorts of stuff. We can get a deal with the hotel we stay at on our wedding night, they have stuff to help with photography, and hair stylists and invitations. It's kind of a relief knowing that I have all these things to help me out. Rick is going to be our photographer too so that's one less thing to worry about and one big finance I don't have to sacrifice.
